In February of 2020, the Greater Rockford Airport Authority solicited bids for Phase 3 of its Northwest Cargo Area Expansion. The project included a robust and diverse scope of activities, designed to provide additional capacity for one of its most prominent customers (UPS) in time for the holidays. Benchmark was the successful low bidder on the project and anticipated starting the work in late Spring for a November 2020 completion. Then disaster struck. The pandemic caused administrative delays in securing funding from the FAA and the start date of the project was delayed by two months. The Benchmark management team recognized the need to enlist its best people and most reliable subcontractors to get 6 months of work done in 4 months’ time. The team worked extended hours 6 days per week to move 75,000 CY of dirt, install almost a mile of new drainage, and place 25,000 CY of new concrete pavement- all in time for a holiday season delivery! On-time delivery is just one part of the customer value proposition the Benchmark team is committed to; give us a call to learn what else we can offer your group.
